Ning. Out here, 911 dispatchers make good money. The hours suck though. I could not sit in a room without windows. Most are bunker like facilities.

No long weekend here.  :'(

There's still time...stick around.  ;D
Would the start pay of a dispatcher cut the mustard?

Do you really want to get into law enforcement?

I don't think the starting pay would be comparable...but he immediately said that the amount of OT they do ( both in picking up shifts and in additional shifts that get assigned) more than makes up for it....that paired with county benefits package....it could be a very worthwhile...

as far as getting into law enforcement...well...my family on my moms side has always been involved in some manner of law as lawyers and so that aspect sits well with me...given my age now, I wouldn't see them as putting me on the street as a beat cop per say...but you never know...it isn't an unattractive proposition to me as of this point...

8 hours till freedom. Happy hour with family and friends tonight. Then home for a good movie, popcorn, and cry session.

Then Saturday starts a new year.  A new me. The focus will be one personal development. I have an idea for some extra work outside of the office and I want to stop thinking about it and actually pursue it. I need the extra money for my impending move.

I need to get fit again. I had been running, and let it slide. I can go do a 5K without running every week or more and get the time under 30 minutes. That is just muscle memory from the miles I ran when young. Now that I am 49, I have to get fit and stay fit. I want a healthy old age.

Dating is on the horizon too. Working on me will help with that.  My friends need to start setting my up!

Have a day all!

a wise man once told me "nothin' to it, but to do it!"....good on you...perhaps you can meet people through running? I know the local running store by me does lots of "fun runs" where you end up running with all sorts of people and you could meet some people that way maybe?

Your problem is you have a job...

My weekends could become 7 days long soon, too. [bang]
It's all in the grind, Sizemore. Can't be too fine, can't be too coarse. This, my friend, is a science. I mean you're looking at the guy that believed all the commercials. You know, about the "be all you can be." I made coffee through Desert Storm. I made coffee through Panama while everyone else got to fight, got to be a Ranger.

Made the mistake of helping one of my guys apply cherry veneer to some curved doors today.  That contact cement is some potent shit.  I knew it was time to sit down when I started laughing like a crazy man and the room started spinning.
