I wouldn't go open cover, but full carbon I could ponder a little more!

I guess if it does blister, I could just take the cover back to bare metal and start again. The paint would probably grab the metal okay, as I think it's self priming.

I went primer this time, because I wanted a decent surface for the silver to grab. I guess I was just in a bit of a hurry! Lol!

Evening ducatters.

I need some DMF wisdom...  my DR wont start  :-\

It will bump start fine, but pushing the starter button generates nothing more than "click"

The "click" is coming from the starter solenoid.

12v to the solenoid...

12v to the starter motor from the solenoid when the starter button is pressed..

starter ground is good..

I diagnosed cactus starer brushes.  Pulled the motor apart... replaced the original (perfectly good looking brushes)... reassembled.

"click"  [bang]

This is the second episode of "click".  First time around (a good while ago)....  "click" went away all by itself  :-\  Although the common DR starter motor "rooster squawk" remained.  I bought new motor brushes back then.... but of course did nothing with em until now.

It has to be a make the beast with two backsed starter motor IMO.

Or what am I missing??

Do you have an ammeter of high enough capacity to test starter draw?

It's possible the contacts in the solenoid will pass 12v, but not the amperage required to turn the motor.

In other words...
