In reality I've never been too much for festivities, but in June '93 my grandmother, father's mother, died, my dad asked that for that one Xmas NO festivities to be held in the house, no tree, no lights, no nothing, his wife, not my mother, did whatever the itch in her ass wanted and me and my dad just didn't give shit for anything regarding Xmas since . . . their excuse, his wife and daugther[don't even consider her step sister], argued and argued about the why THEY HAD to decorate for xmas . . . that plus the beast with two backing commercialization of the festivities have made me hate it more . . .

Why? First, brings memories of an era long gone where family was important and the exterior or material stuff was just a way to say "well done" "thank you" "you deserve it", not, like Sheldon says "it's the social convention to give a gift if given one" . .  Everyone that knows me, knows that if they get something from me is because they earned it or because I really wanted to do it . . . I will receive gifts and thank you, but, don't expect me to give something back because "the social convention" says so . . .

Plus ALL freakin' drivers become "zombies" don't give a beast with two backs about how their 'guiding' of their vehicle affects others, manners are thrown out the door and is all "me me me me" the rest of us surrounding you are pieces of feces and worth nothing . . .

When I decided to give up on this time of year, it cost me one big figth every year since with my first wife, then my GF and now with actual wife . . .

I couldn't care less about this whole "season to be jolly" . . . I'll make my eggnog, sell it . . this year I said, NO EGGNOG, I don't care who wants, NO is NO . . . Ham, purchased pre-cooked and pre-sliced . . . turkey, just a breast and pre-cooked . . . dressing up for dinner, not me . . .

This year, what do I have to celebrate? A grandmother who's in an ALF and blew a bank account away on catalog shopping paying both with CC and check and the companies taking both payments and sending just one order? An uncle who had a stroke and the whole family is just living as if nothing had happened, why?  because he's gay and no one wants to do with him . . . A cousin that has drug issues but wont admit it . . .

To my eyes, nothing to celebrate, I do what I can when I can, I try to stay as close as possible to family but, is never enough . . . I'll visit and have a few drinks and eat . . .  That's what I can give, my company and support . . .

Now, I'll get back to work prepping myself for a 1000kms service and a yearly service later in the day
