I'll be headed out in an hour or so to see what version of Ford I end up with.

Happy Friday!!!

There was rumors of mud wrestling at DIMBY a few years back, but it never happened.

Greetings Double D.

Mud wrestling??  But for that... there'd need to be... mud.

And for mud - as I'm sure you know - there has gotta be much rain....

And DIMBY is in the middle of NH summer  8)

I could make mud.

That'll be fun.

So you still thinking Ford Tribute/Mazda Escape?

I quite like playing the "what car would I have next" game....  although there's nothing..... I find desirable enough (within the realms of possibility) to make me want to abandon the Ford Aus Floppo-barge I currently drive.  It's really a pretty decent thing.

Wonder if GK bought new wheels yet.

I don't enjoy car buying. IMO it's a negative purchase. Something you have to have that costs way too much and doesn't last anywhere near long enough and most likely will continue to cost you money until you get it out of your life.

The Escape would be a best case scenario...not sure if it's in the financial cards.

I don't want another with the DCT. It simply doesn't work at the component quality level to which it's produced. I wish T wanted a standard, but she doesn't.

I know the Fiesta and Focus share the same set up...or did.

The Fusion also has a 6 speed, but I don't know if it's the same.

They also might have made improvements in subsequent model years.

We'll see.

The DCT in my previous Ford Mondeo (Fusion to you) was fabulous.

I had grave doubts about the complexity vs reliability vs longevity equation.... but it withstood daily thrashing faultlessly (the occasional random, disconcerting "clunk-thud-clunk" notwithstanding).

The one in this Fiesta makes you afraid to pull out into traffic, the car will just about stop, and at times will shudder so badly you'd swear it's going to fall out...

plus the noises that sound like a bucket of ball bearings and the occasional clunk.

...add the fact that it's worn out 2 sets of tires in under 40K even with alignment and regular rotation on the second set.

Before this we had an '02 Focus that never missed a beat. It was hard on tires, but would get better life out of the softest winter tires year round without even an alignment, never mind rotation.

This one is just not a good car.

20K miles for tyres on a front driver doesnt seem too bad to me....

the Mondeo ATE front tyres....  make the beast with two backsing ATE 'em.

Too much torque vs steering input IMO.

I likes me a rear-driver.  Or Mrs Ung's Subie.

Like I said...the Focus could do much better, and this eats all 4...not just the front.

If I get the Escape it will most likely be AWD.
