Not even-project managers just herd cats. You'd have a spread sheet and would meet weekly with your herd and make sure the one who was in charge of pointing the doohickey knew where to aim it.

Mostly you'd have a chart and color things in from red to green. The money is for keeping the distracted off the internet and convincing the customer/boss you actually care. Oh, and so they could call you on your honeymoon/birthday/vacation/whenever the make the beast with two backs they felt like it.

I would describe it as "acting for dollars". Corporate soul sucking BS. You'd hate it.
