In dog news....

So far so good.

Taught him to walk on a leash without pulling.

He's very gentle with the kids-watches them when we're in the yard.

Very gentle, happy dog.

We're most of the way with the "sit" command.

Almost no sounds. He howled at the ceiling once. That's been it. I think I may have a wolf, not a dog.


Hair everywhere.


I can't believe this critter was in a shelter.

Is there any back story on the dog from the shelter?

I have the same question.

Our last dog was from a shelter. He was great in almost every respect, but had a fear and distrust of women, and failed the kiddie test. Years later, when we had a child, that would sadly be his undoing!

Picked up as a stray. They know nothing about him.


He was housebroken and afraid to wander the house itself. Wanted to stay in one room-only ever use the first door we brought him in. I suspect he was owned by someone with a ranch or some such, where he was allowed in at night but only part of the house.

Seems well socialized. Doesn't chase cats, bark at other dogs or harass people.


I'm still watching like a hawk, mind you.
If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.
