Undoubtedly your house is well insulated.
But it's not *perfect*.

Heat flows in when the outside is warmer than the inside, and flows out when the inside is warmer.
You can heat and cool a shed that only has corrugated tin walls, and keep the air temp inside comfortable.
But when the sun is on a wall, you'll feel the IR baking you like a toaster oven.
I understand that the house isn't 'perfect'. Nothing is.

It's not only the insulation though Nick. The surface the sun hits is 10" from the interior wall surface. There are two thermal breaks and 4 1/2 inches of continuous rigid insulation. There is literally no difference between the inside air temp and the surface of the wall.

Now if you're saying that direct sunlight through a window is what's doing the heating...that happens in the winter also.

That was the explanation that my Heat Transfer 101 instructor in college gave, and the physics of it make sense.
The heat will be going in or out of the house if it's at a different temperature from the surroundings.

Additionally, relative humidity will be lower in winter, and higher in summer, and physiologically that will make you feel colder in winter and warmer in summer.

Also some bias due to thermostat location.
Generally they're located in the center of the structure, while the heat is going in or out through the floor, ceiling, and walls.

So good that the media can focus on the really important news:

It's all in the grind, Sizemore. Can't be too fine, can't be too coarse. This, my friend, is a science. I mean you're looking at the guy that believed all the commercials. You know, about the "be all you can be." I made coffee through Desert Storm. I made coffee through Panama while everyone else got to fight, got to be a Ranger.

Yep.  The fire is just over the ridge on the north side of the highway.

I did not realize the location was such a secret.  I thought it was common knowledge.

Been frozen for 26 years.  I know I wouldn't want to eat meat that has been frozen for that long.

Saves on paperwork.
If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.

You all should come out for the festival next year: http://frozendeadguydays.org/

It happens to fall on my birthday as well.   [beer]

We can have a DMF coffin race team.

There's also a law against having frozen human or animal flesh in Nederland, thanks to the frozen dead guy.

He was grandfathered in, however.

Are you going to be here all night, and should we order the veal and tip the waitresses?

And, can one not have a frozen steak in Nederland?
