Dustykitska & I met up with (at a safe distance) Stella who was passing through town.

That was so cool.  Next time, we hug.  [thumbsup]  Coronavirus  [thumbsdown]

It was no fun not hugging you two yesterday but bonus just to see you both.   [beer] :)

Finally slept aaaallllll night long.  First time in about 2 weeks.  yay.

Bought a ridiculous amount of groceries after taking the canine out to chase some squirrels.  I usually do "food prep fridays" but will do that this eve.  Must get some kind of work out in then I'll start drinking.

Not motivated here either at the moment, however.   Maybe a nap first....

I've found this no hugging rather difficult.

ION:   Pup wanted to sit outside on the front patio last night.  It faces a large grassy lawn between buildings and sidewalks on either side of it.  Freezing but had my wine.   Texting with a colleague.... hear a crash of some kind then nothing.  Then the screaming and wailing.  Girl (20 ish) riding her bike with a guy â€" both without lights and helmets â€" in the pitch black didn't realize there were stairs down the sidewalk.

Thinking she'll be visiting a dentist / oral surgeon this morning after going over to help them out and seeing her messed up mouth.   yeesh.

Would a helmet have done anything though?  Bike helmets seem to only cover the top part of the head.

A good friend of mine is an avid cyclist and wears a helmet. He had an incident last year that gave him a concussion and a chunk out of his face. He doesn't know what happened because he can't remember the first half of that day anymore.

No marks on his helmet. Scary.

I believe a helmet would've helped in this woman's case â€" to some degree.  She was laying flat on her back with her head on the concrete.  She stood up eventually and complained mostly about her mouth and pelvis.  It's likely she banged her head too.   I just hope she'll be ok w/o any lingering issues.

When I was a young thing and riding my bike one morning, I did a young thing move by riding with a horse bridle (with a steel bit) in my hands.  The bridle swung into my front wheel.

I have no idea how long I laid on the road until a construction worker scooped me and my bike up and put us in the bed of his truck and got my home address out of me to dump me off at the front door.    Helmet?  Of course not â€" not in those days.  But I may not have been KO'd as long as I was....??     IDK.

But that might explain a few things â€" for those who've met me.   ;D

I think we all have close call stories. I almost put out one of my eyes once. Good thing that didn't work out like it could have
