If this thing goes on much longer...

you'll be calling me Mr. Creosote. [bang]

A vaguely local restaurant will serve one a bucket of liquor if you ask nicely.

We had races one night to see which team could down one faster. Best two out of three was a mistake.

yeesh.   Glad that's all that happened but what a PITA to have to deal with that.

Enjoy that beverage.   [drink] [drink]

ION:  Two members from the executive board talked with the d-bag boss yesterday.  He publicly made an apology on a staff conf. call today to one of the colleagues by saying he was told to make the apology... and blah blah... but he's very stressed right now.... blah blah.

Eff you you big asshat.  [roll]   Board chair called to let me know they spoke with him and he wishes us good luck but to call him if the boss continues his 2-y/o ways.  So I set his phone # as priority 1 on my phone.  (Old fashioned speed-dial.)

Sheesh.

That is incredible that he has such a lack of self-awareness.

I don't get it.

If the board knows he's a DB...why is he still there?

Might need enough paper trail to fire him.

Or they don't want to interview during the pandemic.

I don't get it.

If the board knows he's a DB...why is he still there?

The problem is they don't know he's a db.  (Well, they didn't until now.)

The five board positions are voluntary and when a new car dealer comes onto the board, they know it's a 5 year gig and they cycle through each position.  I believe they cave into the pressure to be on the board as a way to give back to the association which does work very hard for their benefit and at their direction.

The board meets quarterly (w/plenty of emails, calls, and texts throughout each quarter as needed).  They listen to staff reports and updates, rarely ask questions and get on with their lives (running multiple car dealerships, in some cases other companies, managing hundreds of staff and dealing with their own families).  Until now, there's never been a peep of internal drama brought to their attention nor has anyone ever asked about staff because of the aforementioned reasons (IMO).

All they know is that the boss is an exceptional lobbyist.  Not a d-bag.   He tweets as much as our country's president (if not more) about how amazing he is, everything he does, all the hours he works.... people gush about how amazing he is.  It's sickening.

BUT now he's on the radar of the board for another reason.  I really like the current members and while I know they won't change his personality, they've promised to get staff input for his annual reviews (which has never happened) and to check in with some of us - and we've been invited to call the board chair any time.  He's a solid, solid guy and I trust him completely.
