Morning Ducatters  [coffee]

Daylight savings done for the year  :'(   Gets dark at 5pm.   I do struggle with that I must confess.

Random question:  Do US (or are they regulated State by State?) home safety and building regs permit standard AC power outlets and/or light switches within your bathrooms?

Good morning [coffee]

Can't say about the US or even New York State, but here in NYC outlets in bathrooms, outdoors or near water, like near the kitchen sink must be GFI.  Switches?  no

If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.

Most states follow the National Electrical Code. As howie said, outlets in bathrooms, kitchens, rooms with concrete floors (basements) are GFI. Switches have to be 3 feet away from a sink. The rules are slightly different for a kitchen.

..but you can have power outlets in your bathroom.  As we can in Australia and most other places I've ever lived or visited.

But in the UK.... ooooh no ya don't.  No AC outlets allowed in a bathroom!  No light switches allowed in a bathroom!   I still walk into the smaller rooms of the house and then have to walk back out again to turn on the light....   Just can't be trusted to operate electrical devices in the bathroom.  Have they not heard of RCDs (they have, all of our power circuits are RCD protected)??  But nope, no electricals in the bathroom just in case you dunk your bloody hair dryer in the bath tub.  You are however permitted to plug your toaster into a kitchen AC outlet and then throw it into the kitchen sink.  Go figure  [bang]

Hello ...

The outlet on top of my bathroom faucet is about 6 inches above it ... Go figure and the law says at least 24 inches/60cms
