Ning all!  Meeting up with DucMouse for lunch today.

we got our closing schedule late on friday

We plan to work until approximately 10PM on Monday, 12/29 to be sure all orders are billed, prepped and/or booked.  This time may vary depending on business volume. 

Tuesday, 12/30 we will process all orders that are in house by midnight.     

We will require everyone to be available on 12/31/08 as business volume dictates.

Please let me know if there are any questions.   

our question is "what does 'be available on 12/31' mean? are we at home or int he office? and if we do work are we getting compensated for working on a company holiday?"

no answer as of yet.

good thing this isnt' a holiday where people travel.

here's the thing. apparently as soon as this mgr came to power we were never allowed to work from home unless it was cleared well prior in in case of a dire emergency. and no, snow doens't count as an emergency no matter how much there is. ignore the fact that the rule previous to her was "we would prefer you are here, but if you don't feel safe, log on from home or call out."

so interpeting this in your own way could lead to sanctions being levied against you and your life being made hell for a while. we will probably get an answer tomorrow around 12:30 am as we are leaving for the day.

if we actually get out that early. just because we are told a certain time, doesn't mean we get to leave anywhere near then. it's not unheard of for us to be here until 3am at qtr close. and yes, we come in at norm,al time on thsoe days (something else that "has always been" after the new mgr)

Reasonably well.

I was surprised this morning to find that I have a minor sugar ant problem in my kitchen.

Didn't have time to kill them before work, so first thing I did when I got home for lunch was to eradicate every one of the little buggers I could find with some heavy-duty bathroom cleaner. I'll probably have to do that another couple of times, but they should be all but done by the end of the week.

Boric acid works very well for ants and it is one of the safest things you can use. It's a powder you get from the hardware store and just put it in the cracks where they come in.
