Moto squids.

I was in the car, on the way home from karate and some errands.

Get up to Alice's, see a group of motos waiting to take off together, they do so in the middle of a clump of cars.
Some of them are able to pass cars in the twisties, some are not.
I ended up at the long line of cars/bikes, with one moto just in front of me, someone clearly a noob riding two-up.

We finally get to the town of La Honda, where his buddies are waiting on the shoulder for him.  He pulls over the shoulder behind them, I keep driving.  However, everybody else is ready to take off and start passing me on the right in the shoulder (although they are still stuck behind another car).

A few turns later, we all turn left onto the road we live on.  However one moto missed the turn, ends up doing a U-turn (right in front of a corner), then turns onto the road, passing me on the right in the shoulder and wheelies up the hill.  They then proceeded to terrorize another car into pulling over, even though there is a safe stretch to pass there.

If I were a driver unfamiliar with motos and those roads, I would have been pretty freaked out. [roll]

Oh, and then there was the Harley rider taking his little kid for a ride, he's got his leather jacket and chaps but the kid's got just wearing jeans, a t-shirt, and the brain bucket, plus his short arms can barely hold onto the fat dad.

Yup, well I guess it's to be expected, a beautiful weekend after some bad weather last week.    I'll probably take the tiny little goat trails on my bicycle tomorrow and try to avoid as much squidliness as possible.

Good.

Yesterday was beautiful...close to 70. Bikes everywhere...even I got out for a little ride.

Cold and damp today with a few sprinkles.

I was suppose to be working at home today, but there is no way I was going to stay inside with this great weather out. 

B left to go work at school, and I took the ST out for her first ride of the season.

It was   [bacon] [bacon]

I took a ride down the small boat harbor along Lake Erie. 



In the background is one of the many old gain silo/elevators from when Buffalo was the second largest port in the US.  Also, to the right, is the "Steel Winds" project.  A wind farm built on the former site of the Bethalhem Steel Co. 

I detoured through downtown on the way home and snapped a couple shots of the demolition of "The Aud," former home of the Buffalo Sabres.  If you were ever at a game/concert this was the place, before 1996.  It is being demoed for a new Bass Pro Store, that the Mayor believes will save the waterfront.   [bang] [bang]



Overall, it was a short ride.   I had a great time and can't wait to go on some longer rides when B's semester is over.

It has been "warm" here for a few weeks.  Just hadn't had the chance to take the bike out.  It needed some major cleaning.   [bang]

I'm excited to see the bulbs I planted in fall come up and bloom.

Mine needs major cleaning too, it's disgusting from riding through all the rain and muck.
