Did you take any pics of said flakes?

No. Mother threw them away even though I asked him to keep them. He said they looked exactly like in this thread:

See if the flakes stick to a magnet.

They weren't stuck to the magnet thankfully.

Well I fixed the dango Cayenne.  This one was baffling. Started checking more wires and found that the ground wires for the instrument cluster were gaining 15 ohms of resistance when the ignition was switched on. This was with the harness disconnected from the cluster itself.  Same thing with the cluster plugged in. What's really weird is its not a switched ground circuit. The ground wires go straight from the cluster right to the metal framework under the dash with nothing in between. The mounting lug for the instrument ground does have additional wires from several other components. I ran some new grounds from a different location and everything started working.  It is very satisfying to fix something that other dealers could not.

So did the Goldschlager work?

Hell yes. I'd recommend it to anybody with gold flakes in their oil. Its the perfect remedy.

Bike hasn't been idling real good either recently so we've been a little worried. But of course he won't post anything in Tech.

We're putting new belts on tonight too.

And drinking beer.

Why do roaches always die on their back?

That because the survivors flip them over to steal their sneakers and wallets.

If I didn't know you better I could have believed you were serious.

It was perfect.

From his rant? [laugh]
Well ya.  Was there something else he had his shorts knotted up about?

On another note, I'm riding to the burned-down, no longer topless coffee shop tomorrow.  They're open in a tent, clothed, trying to raise money to rebuild.  I need to see if it'll be worth going later when they're back in full operation.
