Big Troubled Bear

At least mine is over in about half an hour.

Having a 3 and a half year old run riot in your shop doesn`t work to well ;D

so i'm looking for a car for the g/f.
we decided to go used to save some money.

i'm now convinced that "ceritfied pre-owned" is code for "a reason to charge you way more than the car is worth"
seriously, a comprable 2010 is only $4000 more than a 2006 model with 40k miles. WHAT THE make the beast with two backs!? why the hell do they think they can charge that much and not actually cut you a deal. at this rate they will try to sell her car (with 167K mi) for around $7000 but only want to give us $500 for it. maybe this is why the car companies need a bailout. because they try to convince yout hat $13K for a car with 40K mi is affordable (brand new it's listed at $17K and on sale for 15K) i'll make them a deal. knock $7000 off the price of the car and i won't shove my foot up your ass and go for a jog before i leave without buying a car.

and now i get to take a day off of work because she has no idea what she's doing and i will get to be the one making the deals with the make the beast with two backstard salesmen who want to rape us for what her car is worth and what the car we want to buy is worth. and i swear, if they try to hold us there the whole day i will go apeshit and tell the salesperson to pound sand in a very unpleasant way.

same model car??

that's very weird.

i did some looking a while back at Toyotas for the Mrs and the spread was about 40% of new cost.

plus the "certified" part included a 2 yr warranty and a year of maintenance

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

yep, same model. honda civic to be exact. the warranty on the pre-owned cars varied from a year (or 20K more mi) to up to 100K miles. she's putting about 40K miles on per year right now.

i'm looking up cars at other places and the prices are still about the same difference.
and here i was thinking that they wanted to actually sell the cars.

Wonderful. make the beast with two backsing wonderful.

Popeye the Sailor

Better off selling it privately, and buying one privately.

Then again, I'm not as concerned about a warranty. But I wouldn't be terribly worried with a civic. Those things are dependable.

Sorry to hear that J.

Parents often disapprove, that's their job.

Trouble's right (somewhat)...  They're bound to disapprove as they don't know him as you do and they want the best for you.  The difference there is that the 'best' they see is different than the 'best' you see.  Talk to them.  Don't let this be a divisive moment that has long-lasting implications.  I hate to see people who say they haven't spoken to so-and-so for years because of ______.  Life is too short to make BIG deals out of misunderstandings.

I suspect she can hit me more easily. It's really the only sort of advice I listen to.
