The cabinets were a light brown stain. We cleaned them up.then sanded them a lil bit....primered them, then I test painted a door and added a lil black glazing. The next day I picked up the test door, and the new paint and primer started to peel right off the door. make the beast with two backs.  So then we decided to take all the cabinets down to bare wood. Sanding is fun. I then stained everything ebony..... and because I love sanding so much... I distressed everything to give it an aged look.


After the tops are on.... I'll brush on a semigloss clear and add the new fancy schmancy handles. Then we need to figure out which new wall color goes with the new counter top color.

Forgot to mention that while walking back from the "King's Head" pub, we went right by the lively nightclub "Whiskey Dix".

There are a large number of questionable characters out on the streets in the evenings (and they come into the restaurants and harrass the patrons as well).  Apparently there is a considerable gang problem here.

Took the day of yesterday, seeing as it was Heritage day here in South Africa.

Had a nice Braai ( BBQ in local lingo ) Fillet Steaks smothered in Cheese sauce and some potatoe salad to please the wife. 10 year old brandy helped to lift the mood
