Mornin'

so, next door to the little bakery where I get my coffee there was a homeless man sleeping on the sidewalk.  All he had to keep him warm was a small, ratty old blanket. It's about 40 degrees out. I felt bad, but not my problem, right?

Well, when I walk into the bakery, other customers are all talking about him... "OMG, how come nobody does anything about him..."  etc... etc... Keep in mind this is Agoura, CA.  If you live here, you've got some cash.

I get my coffee and pretzel and walk back to my truck. As I get in, I see him sit up. Something clicked inside of me. This was a human being sitting there, freezing.  I walked back inside and bought him a coffee. It wasn't much, but it was something.

I dunno, I guess it bothered me that all the people driving the Bentleys, BMW's, etc.. were standing around pregnant doging about how he was an eyesore, and, how come the police don't take him away.  :-\   

I guess I figured what this guy needed was compassion, not punishment.

Ning.  Way to go SBBJ.  Everyone has family somewhere and but for a few changes that could be any of us.

Busy day off for me.  I am going to take all the dog bedding and stuff to storage.  :'(

It has been a week today.

Laundry, dusting, grocery shopping, hair cut, and cook dinner.  L's folks are coming over.

I often feel the same way you did, but have a hard time separating those who a drug induced.

Should random acts of kindness be held for those who deserve it?

I have no idea what his situation is/was or how he got there. I didn't see any bottles of alcohol or crack pipes laying around....  I didn't give him money to go buy those things if that was the situation.  I bought him a cup of coffee.  If my compassion gave him a bit of hope to try and change his situation, great. If not, I spent $2.00 and helped someone with nothing maybe feel a little more human.
