Thanks Stu...every once in a while I pull something worthwhile out of my as hat.

later all...

off to the dust bin.

It's all in the grind, Sizemore. Can't be too fine, can't be too coarse. This, my friend, is a science. I mean you're looking at the guy that believed all the commercials. You know, about the "be all you can be." I made coffee through Desert Storm. I made coffee through Panama while everyone else got to fight, got to be a Ranger.

Howdy! We're T-minus two and a half days until the arrival of a German exchange student who'll be with us for three weeks; then next year our daughter has the opportunity to spend three weeks in Frankfurt. Should be fun, and great practice for ours at having a roommate for the first time in her life -- seriously, I feel a little sorry for her first few college roomies!

Ours is 15, our guest is 16. We're responsible for feeding & entertaining her while she's here (we're planning a substantial dose of Arizona sightseeing over the next few weeks), but will need to save $$$ to get ours to Germany next year. One good thing is that her school (based on an Expeditionary Learning curriculum developed by Outward Bound http://www.prescottschools.com/northpoint/) is VERY focused on getting students learning off campus, including at least one overseas experience during a student's four years in high school. Consequently, there's almost a constant fundraising effort going on that helps pay for these trips -- just last week, we ate bad Pad Thai & pretty good chicken skewers at a dinner to raise money for this year's Thailand trip (and scored a pair of First Gear pants and Joe Rocket gloves for Ann Marie in the silent auction  [thumbsup] ). We're going to be tapped for a big chunk of the cost of sending Mia overseas, but a lot of that will depend on how actively we work at raising money in other ways.

Studying abroad (overseas, not a broad  ;) )  was one of my best life experiences.

Good on you and her school for giving her the opportunity.   [thumbsup]

how's things over in the united states? (waiting for nate to say something...)

and where did you get to study?

DesmoDiva

I studied in Copenhagen, Denmark for a year.  We did study tours to Poland and Finland.

I spent x-mas that year with relatives that in Germany.

One of the things I miss the most is the excellent public transportation system and bike lanes.

Why do roaches always die on their back?

That because the survivors flip them over to steal their sneakers and wallets.
