No advice to offer on the boat but sounds like a great project. I adore anything blue-water-oriented but can only scuba off the sides...

What is "cheapish"?

Definition of Boat:  A hole in the water to which one pours money.

And I am out.

selling most of my crap and getting a floating apt.

keeping car (which is in pa) bike which is daily driver, my moto gear and computer

rent's cheap, its great on gas :P and i can move whenever i want

was really surprised how cool of a boat you can get from 5-10k

unfortunatly no pirate ships in in the 8k range

Flurry of Duc activity after I got back from NH... removed sidecovers, re-routed the wiring to get rid of the zip ties on the frame, cut the airbox, and the new rear tire will be put on today.  [evil]

Morning Peeps!  Glad  y'all have my future figured out.  I have worked at 2 coffee shops in my life.  That is how I started drinking coffee.  I was a  Dr Pepper girl up to then.

I saw on CNN online that Seattle has the most coffee shops per 100,000 people.  I have over 10 coffee shops in a 2 block radius, add all the places that sell coffee in the same area an it is over 30.

cheap to live aboard: yes
bluewater capable:  er...I wouldn't go with you but I guess it depends on your level of "great adventure"

they were not built for offshore work.

Chris - do you have your captain's license or is your boat more of a non-open water day toy?

My neighbors growing up retired and bought a 52' cat built in south africa.

Prior to this, he took all sorts of classes and got his US Coast Guard certificate or whatever it is called.

He actually sailed the thing back to FL with a friend and a rep of the manufacturer (can't recall who built the boat). Needless to say, they got caught in some nasty ass weather to the point where they had to deploy the parachute type device that drags behind you to keep you from rolling over in the water. I am sure this gadget has a name and my description is as worthless as it comes.


All I know is it turned into a giant sinking money pit, kind of like a rockstar type Motorcoach.
