I like the RedWings because they make uninsulated boots.

I've never owned a pair of their steel toes because I never had to.

I'd certainly give them a try.

I also think they're a real value when you consider the length of time they last.

The guy I work with says I'm crazy to spend that kind of money on boots, but if you do the math they're inexpensive compared to cheap boots

I have a pair of Red Wing steel toes, I forget what model and they're in the car and I don't feel like going out and looking. 

I have to wear steel toes if I'm wearing boots but I try to get away with wearing sneakers when I can because I walk a lot.

nope, that's why the boots are in the car. Switch to the boots upon arrival if I'm going to a construction site or keep the sneakers on if I'm in the office or just going to a service contract where I'm not doing "real" work.

I am in the buildings fairly early sometimes like when they are still open to the outside (ie. no windows/real walls yet), so there is technically plenty of hazards at that point.

Steel toed boots and a hard hat only protect you from the minor ones.

If something really heavy falls on you you're make the beast with two backsed anyway.
