My buddy and I are raising turkeys this year.

We have 20...they eat 25# of grain a day and drink 4 gallons of water...they'd drink more if I gave it to them.

These things are eating us out of house and home.

turkeys will also drown themselves if you let them...they are DUMB birds....

I'm aware of their shortcomings.

I've been around this block before.

It's said if you put them in the rain they'll look up and drown...the thousands of wild birds around here make me speculate it's partially a wives tale. They don't drown drinking from a waterer. Mine are under a roof and inside wire to protect from predators.

They will crowd together so tightly that the smaller birds will get smothered...mostly as chicks...they'll also eat their own shit which can spread disease.

But yes...the dumbest creatures on the farm.

back when I lived in the Berkshire region...I was driving a beige D150 Dodge van and had 1 charge me going along Route 7 while I was doing 55-60 and it didn't veer off at all...I hot that thing and an explosion of feathers erupted....it was nasty seeing the bits of him in the cracked grill...

Same thing here...

a hen and her brood just went for it.

One of the younguns didn't make it.

It couldn't fly so it was just like running over a squirrel.

I need a nap.  All of my kids are taking their naps right now, but I gotta sit here listening to the lullaby music, in a dark room, right after eating lunch and try to stay awake.
