Some people have posted you have to pull the heads on the s and r bikes.

I have a feeling that's wrong. I think my first crack at 4v will be a check on tjr178's s4r.

How hard can it be?  Couldn't be worse than a check on a ktm lc8.

There are some bikes that kinda do require pulling the heads because of the valve keepers that they used.

Ducati knocked off a design similar to the MBP collets which actually does require head removal.

add $200-300 to the service cost for new gaskets

Which engines were those?

Do not want.

I think the 749S and R.

I'll check with Eric about the 999's, but I think the R bikes were involved

Yea, I think a lot of the R bikes had to have the head come off...

I may call him tomorrow myself. I'll have to remember to ask about this.

I generally do all my own work as it is but the closest ducati service dept is 2hrs away.  If I needed help I'd be out of luck beyond what I scare up here and on the net.

R bikes are waaaaay out of my price range (up in the dolph-o-sphere)  I may stumble upon an S but base models are more common. Ill probably grab one of them if I do get another ducati.

That cl link you posted with the 999s...

I called the guy. He has 13 bikes and selling to fund a struggling business. Or something like that. He didn't want to talk price much so I passed.

2004 999s with 2300 miles asking 7900

There was a 999R for sale down here not that long ago.  I can look around and see if it's still available if you want.   [evil]

I'd be happy with any 2005 or newer base 999-s-r in the 7k range.

So go ahead... hunt it up ;D

Oh, it was more than $7k, that's for sure.   ;D

Thing had the original Xerox body kit, as well as a second set of track skins, both looked cherry.

*edit*  It's about $10k more than you want to spend.   ;D

There is this though:

He's been trying to sell it for a while, so would probably be willing to come down off the price a little.

Those bikes are cool but I'm not destined to own one. I rode a friends 996 at the track and didn't fit well on it (I'm like a giant)

Also ill set myself on fire before I own a yellow bike ;)

Thanks though :)
