ohh yeah, what i actually wanted to say before i say lethe's response...

resume has been handed over for retooling and i had my chat with HR about getting out of this dept. she seems to think there is a decent chance of me actually getting into field service/repair/installations. I hope that is actually true.

my only requirement was that they don't move me to the god forsaken mid-west.  ;D

as for salary, i sometimes think they overpay me, but that is quickly forgotten when I have to fix something and when they make us work late hours a week at a time. If the job pays $50K or more it might be worth the commute if i get to be hands on and learn new stuff as well as leave this freaking job (yes, that actually is a pay cut). though to be honest i would prefer to work in philly since it's closer and my stuff is here.
It would involve aspects of web design (sorta), programming, buying me lunch, knowing how to word an email to a manufacturer that their shit doesn't work but saying it in a nice way, laughing at everything I say and generally banging your head against a wall.
