IMO, you've already met the criteria for LL.  If it were me, I'd press for a new car.

A simple, yet strongly worded, letter to VW HQ would probably do the trick.  If you have an attorney friend (cough Statler) who would send it on their stationary, it might get a little more priority.

Yeah, it's already gone too far.  :-/  They should be talking replacements @ this point.
