Can't sneak up on the right end?    ;D

Once you cut off the tongue...or the groove...and you needed it...

it's too short. ;D

Teach me these ways Yoda... :P

Take the tongue off the piece on the floor and have a butt joint, it won't go anywhere.  You should have 3/4" leeway against the wall that the baseboard will cover so the 1/4" you lose with the tongue gone isn't a problem

If that's the case...

I'll just use the piece that I screwed up and have the butt where I cut it on the wrong end.

As long as the short end is covered it doesn't much matter.

I have plenty of length...

I was worried about the butt joint.

I'll quit worrying.

While I have your attention...

should I plan on trimming the posts or try to fit the floor tight?

If you're going to try and not trim, I'd undercut the post a bit to hide the joint.

YaY Thursday  [beer]

Evening constructioneers.

Bike is packed and ready to roll bright and early in the morning.

Well early anyway, dunno how bright it'll be.

Not at all cold, but intermittently rather wet.

I'll take that under advisement...

trimming sounds...

easier. ;D

Those Hemlock posts have done some weird things as they've dried.
