I have melted a fingernail in a light socket......also had my hand cut open from an Arc plugging in a "safe for 240V" travel adapter for a US colleague (I was nice and went under the desk to plug in)....
Not a fan of burning flesh smell. Especially when it is your own.....

I've got 3 types of halogen bulbs that I want to replace with LEDs; I might simply purchase 3 lots, one of each and re-sell the ones I don't use to make up some money . . . Also want to replace a few fixtures just for fun
