Yesterday I was dealing with the registry.

They wouldn't register my Jeep.

According to them, it's been reported as stolen in North Carolina.

According to North Carolina, they have no record of any such thing.

If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.

Not much NC can do as they have no record of it.

I managed to get more info from my registry.

Turns out because it's a massive five digit VIN, it comes back as a partial VIN for all sorts of vehicles, none of which are related.

This brings up a few concerns. Like...you've identified a stolen vehicle and your response is to just....deny the paperwork? No looking into it further? No notifying the police? That's it?

I think they noticed the make the beast with two backsed up because the registry called me to specifically iron this out. They told me exactly who to give the paperwork to.


All very odd.

I've heard the Registry described in a lot of ways, but nothing as complimentary as 'odd'.
