I have a good friend that is traveling there for 28 days by himself. If anything comes up, I would love to be able to find him some local help.

It's New Zealand, nothing ever "comes up" there.  Only dangers are bungy jumping and being trampled to death be sheep.  But, I do have a mate in Papamoa who I could maybe press into being reliable, if the sheep get too vicious.
