Evening's just about up for me,  been poking around doing suspension homework for my new-to-me DR650.

And whats ahead in your day, still deep-frozen up there?

I've witnessed it.

Parts and tools were flying everywhere.

Ready for this one?

When I was in my sales job I was helping one of the other guys run an indexable endmill at one of his accounts as he was lacking in machining back ground.

The account was Channellock.

This mill had two spindles that mirrored each other and made two parts at once.  So, we had two tools in there.

Things were going very well and I asked the programmer to eliminate the rough pass and take it right to size in one cut.

After lunch when we ran it for the first time the machine changes to our tool. . .

and drives it right into the fixture.  The whole place shook, floor, everything.  Brief silence, lots of eyeballs our way, ML facepalm.

The "programmer" deleted some codes he shouldn't have.  The machine basically ignored the length of the tool and went straight for China.

It was awesome [laugh]

done that with toe prototrak except it was a huge casting that we made rotors out of. forgot to zero out my tool and it dove right in and made some new custom jaws while it was at it. ive aslo lost several big objects out of the chuck on several occasions. that little splash shield that supposedly protects you dosnt instill much confidence when a 20 pound hunk of steel comes at you at 2,000 rpms
