The mom in law 70th birthday surprise was great! The bro in law, his wife, Laura, and I all showed up at their house this morning. We went out to breakfast and back to Seattle to the jewelry store for the ring fitting. She cried! And after happy hour, I am happy for spell check!  [beer] The big party is tomorrow at 1400. I have to cook the turkey.

Thanks all, no physical harm to the wee one, just neglect, dishonesty, and misuse of our property.  I had a hard time biting my tongue this week as she told me lie after lie until we had everything set up so I could can her.

We have both been swamped with work lately so I haven't had much free time for bikes of either type, sadly.

good early day........

make the beast with two backsing appraiser tanked me on the asheville house....

nothing like paying 450 bucks to have someone come in and economically ass-slam you.   

Put me 15K under what I paid in 2006.....(we'll ignore the 50K I have poured into this place in improvements)

had to remind the (psychotically raging) wife that all this is just "stuff"...

we have decent jobs and we have reasonable health

life is still good

Incredibles: Shit about the child care arrangement let-down (I dont fully comprehend what the issue was, but clearly something was amiss) So hopefully all's relatively well notwithstanding.

RAT: Have house values really slumped that much?  :o  Or were you just lucky to get the assessor from Hell?  This means you're stuck with your 7.8%?  Maybe you should've offered a little..... um..... encouragement  :-\.

So my day was good.  Left home early to go  [Dolph] under heavy skies.  Warm to hot day, but humid with all that mean cloud threatening.  But the rain didnt come and the cloud broke up to let the sun thru for a while  :).  Me and my Buell riding mate had a good day out.... nice lunch stop....  nice end-of-the-riding-day  [drink] at the local brewery too.

Thunder broke around an hour after returning home.  And now we have no power.  Well almost no power..... getting 138VAC from our power outlets, when it ought be ~240V.   

Can I borrow some US appliances please?

Stuff which has autoranging power supplies works fine, but that doesnt include the satelite modem.  So I'm on dial-up. Makes me wonder how we ever tolerated connecting to the interwebs at such a feeble "speed"......  [laugh]

True that...the most important accomplishment in any day is the eyes opening..... and dead on about the taxes

even with the slam, I am still valued 20K over what I am looking to re-fi

so maybe there's enough equity upside for the lenders to move forward...

won't know til Monday...

but these are fancy problems, like dusty chandeliers and parking lot dented car doors...

they are not real ones by any stretch

Ning all. Sucks about the appraisal Rat. We refinanced over the summer. The appraisal came in $125,000 under what we paid for the place 5 years ago  :o

We ended up getting in at 5% with the bank our current mortgage was with.
