I bought an 85 honda rebel 250 for my newbie wife on CL and had no issues at all.

I've been missing the point to all of these all along...

I just learned today that Craig's List is just a big prostitution ring.

http://www.chicagobreakingnews.com/2009/03/sheriffs-lawsuit-says-craiglist-largest-source-of-prostitution.html

It all makes sense now.
It's all in the grind, Sizemore. Can't be too fine, can't be too coarse. This, my friend, is a science. I mean you're looking at the guy that believed all the commercials. You know, about the "be all you can be." I made coffee through Desert Storm. I made coffee through Panama while everyone else got to fight, got to be a Ranger.

A mechanic once told me "never buy anything that was owned by a mechanic." Why? "You don't wanna know."

I'm guessing because of all the crazy experimental abuse their stuff goes through.

I drove said mechanic's 400 bhp 1.8t Audi and it seemed like the odo was under-reading by 100,000 miles. Speaking of whichâ€"how many miles is "very low miles?"

Mechanics tend to not keep up with the maintenance on their own vehicles.  That is why he said that.  They work on other peoples shti all day and many of them dont feel like working on their own shit when the time comes.

yup....same on cars. if you havent serviced the trans by 100k  dont even think about do'n it after  [laugh]

I've seen lots of cars be made worse when a service adviser upsells services on high mileage cars that were never serviced properly, but were running just fine.

If the fluid was still good and the transmission was behaving well you will probably be fine and helped the transmission live a little longer.  Statistically I do agree with BP.

Been there done that. Seen this plenty of times. Usually it's a transmission already on its way out though.
