I wasn't really talking about brand loyalty, as everyone has a brand they like and will never buy another truck.

I just didn't know a half ton could pull 11k in weight, thought it was less.

Isn't 11k towing pretty high for a half ton truck?

My parents have a 95 F150 and I don't think it can nearly pull that much, but then again, it is 14 years old

Yeah, 11k is a lot. I don't need to tow that much, it's just that to get the options I wanted, that option was included...

when we were looking at trucks, i noticed all the fords that were a couple of years old ('06) had issues with the paint/finish on the logo on the front grill...

what's up with that?

NAKID

Hmmm, not sure. My 02 never had a problem with the paint on the logo. Maybe it's something about this area. Mine spent most of it's life in CA and AZ...

all of them at the dealership here in CT had large air bubbles, that were cracking and peeling...

my 99 has had no problems with the paint (other than the ones i caused)

as for the 11k towing rating on an f150.......... i am very skeptical. that is a LOT of weight.
even if the claim is true,...i cant imagine pulling that kind of load at altitude, or up a steep hill for that matter with an f150...it be barkin the whole way.

chassis can handle it, but the 5.4 won't.  Even with the improved grunt this year.  The 6 speed auto is from the f250, so that's up to the challenge.  Motor would be suckin serious wind though...

Based on how it felt towing 5K, there is no way I would put 11K behind it.

And I don't believe the fully boxed frame would give you a very nice ride with that much weight either.  That's why 3/4 Ton & up trucks use an open C-channel frame in the back (as does the Tundra).

When a mfg has to round to the nearest 100 pounds, instead of say 500 or 1000 pounds, you know they are stretching the truth.  For example, maybe they had the test truck pull 11,300 without breaking, but then puked at 11,400.  Rather than just say 11,000, or 11,500, they went with 11,300 - it just seems odd.

And I agree that is too much weight for any 1/2 ton truck (why that is even a class name anymore I don't know).

that & if your gonna tow that much, why would you want to be using something that's gonna be functioning @ 9/10ths or 10/10ths, anyway.  If your gonna tow that much on a regular basis, it'd better be with a 1ton.

I doubt I will ever tow anything CLOSE to that weight with it. The most I'd do is probably the wife's Touareg (5300) on an auto transporter (~1500). That's if we move cross country again...

Now you're thinking right.  Should I start looking for places for you?

NAKID

I wish. There's still only a few boats in SD. I'll know more in July...

Yeah, they didn't want me to put my old F150 on there either, but it made it almost 3000 miles...
