Fallon knows the right people, said the right things and has the right politics.  That's why he got the job.

He is funny to the snarky, limousine liberal set that is in NYC, but that's about it.  The rest of the world pretty much sees him as this thread does...

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Dude you must be smoking crack. ;D   Conan is by far the best out there.  Watch an actor on his show and then on Letterman or Leno.  You can tell that they have a much better time and are more themselves with Conan.

If I was smoking crack, then I might think he was funny.
I've been wallowing in my own chaotic and insecure delusions.

1.  Mood, not voice.
2.  The non-reversible indicative "was" is interchangeable with "were" in the standard order.

It's all in the grind, Sizemore. Can't be too fine, can't be too coarse. This, my friend, is a science. I mean you're looking at the guy that believed all the commercials. You know, about the "be all you can be." I made coffee through Desert Storm. I made coffee through Panama while everyone else got to fight, got to be a Ranger.

I am sure Conan sucked the first week also though.

Conan was already funny when he started the show (he wrote the "Marge Vs the Monorail" Simpsons episode after all), he just had to figure out how to be funny on a talk show.  Jimmy Fallon will first need to figure out how to be funny...

fallon just makes it even easier not to watch.
