I have been looking around at exhaust for awhile and want something to clean up the lines of the bike while adding alittle sound.  If I picked up Quat-D's exbox system is there anything else that needs to be done to the bike in order for this system to work properly? or is it good right out of the box?  I notice alot that people need software or to flash there ecu on many systems and didnt know whats best for this system.

and to be perfectly honest im not that concerned with additional power gain, a few hp would be nice but if thats all the software gets me I may wait awhile before I get it flashed...

Idk if much of this makes sence im half asleep typing this haha... but just would like some advice.

i have the x-box on my 06 s2r1k. it did not require anything else (no tuning, ecu, anything.) however, my s2r1k is one of the ones that has never had any of the surging, idle issues others have had, so if you have those issues, YRMV

oh, and you wont get any more horsepower out of the x-box, just weight reduction and eye candy...

I have an 800.

Just bolt it on. Take some pictures and go!

Enjoy.
Why do roaches always die on their back?

That because the survivors flip them over to steal their sneakers and wallets.

Good to know. yeah mine is an 08' and I havnt had the surging problems either... Im prob. going to pick up the exhaust early summer...

Oh I noticed no one has them in stock...  would you just rec. the special order from motowheels?

herm

check with all the sponsors who sell them. see who might have some on order.
otherwise, no reason not to use motowheels. thats where i picked mine up.

The ExBox is one of the few exhaust that is plug and play assuming you didn't mess with the airbox.

ShiftSix

what happens if I mess with the airbox?

you are going to need to do something (depending on the model) to rich up the map.

herm

its not a bad idea to pick up a second airbox lid. then mess with it, and if you dont like the results.......back to stock.

true...    So if I did want some power gains what would I be looking at doing to her with the Ex-box exhaust?  I saw on motowheels they offer mid-pipes and say that if combined with them it makes some gains but doesnt the exbox include the piping already?

To be honest I do most of my riding around town and dont need any crazy power number from her but a couple hp wouldnt be bad.
oh and thanks for all the advice so far

herm

yeh the x box is a full system, no place for a separate mid pipe. if you want power increases, you may need to look into some of the more advanced tuning options out there.

If you are diggin' on getting this system on, you might consider just doing the fatducrider O2 modifier.  I have a full Arrow system, and it was definately lean before the modifier, surges and all..  Now that the thing is in there, I'm thinkin' I need to adjust it to be more lean.  I can smell it at idle a lil' more than I should.

Save for a DP ECU there doesn't seem to be a lot more we (S2R1K owners) can do.  Not that that sucks or anything.  low on power the bike ain't.

Oh sure, it's no R1.  But that ony makes spankin' superbikes on tight tracks and canyons (you squids) all the more rewarding.  so do the QD for the look and the bang (sound) and to the O2 mod for the health of your machine.  You'll be thrilled.
Catching a yellow-jacket in your shirt at seventy miles per hour can double your vocabulary.

Only a biker knows why a dog sticks his head out of a car window.

You only need to do this if you mess with the airbox.  ExBox+stock lid=plug&play
