Great car!  It IS practical - compared to the pickup you traded in...   [laugh]

A friend of mine bought an '05 M3 and just raves about it.  I'm sure you'll have fun with yours, too!

She's a beaut', congratulations on all that ass-hauling practicality :)

I was glad that they offered a four-door model again in this generation.  Is it an SMG or manual?

TiAvenger

so you will be bringing this to west coast dimby and loaning it to those of us who don't have a bike for the rides......

right?   ;D

It's a 6MT.  I may have been tempted to try the dual clutch DCT (SMG died with the M5) if I had a choice, but I'm perfectly happy rowing my own.

This is my second M3, I very briefly had a E46 Convertible before mags and I got serious.  I look forward to spending more time with this one and learning how the new gen is different.  Time to reup my CCA membership [laugh]

Hmm, Ti, that's a very interesting idea.  I was planning on making an appearance, but not riding (cause I'm weaksauce ;D)...but perhaps I can give 3 people a ride as a chase car ala the "ring taxi" m5  [evil]

Thinking new was out of the budget, I'd mostly focused on used M5s

 [bow_down]Droool.
Drove the wifes 335xi coupe today. ;D Thank god for cruise control, or that  [leo] would have got me for about 20 over  [evil].
Can't image trying to keep a " M " at a sane speed.
In May the wife and I are going to meet my dad in Munchen. He's pick up a 135 at die BMW Welt. Can't wait. I'll let you know my impressions of 1er's.
A conclusion is the place you got tired of thinking

the 135 is insane. the power to weight ratio is awesome and they are so light and nimble. my wife is hot on getting a 128 and i'd for sure rather her have the smaller six. you can still get tickets on the autobahn.

so you figured 50 was close enough?   [cheeky]

beautiful car, really.  if i didn't need a truck... well, no, i still wouldn't buy one.  but it's sexy all the same.  :)

Autostrada Pilot

I drove the 135i right after they came out (about a year ago).  It was a fast little sucker (I'd def get into  [leo] trouble with it).

I think I remember reading that they were only like 300 or 400 lbs less than a 335i.  I still want one even though they were almost $40k brand new and weigh like 400 lbs more than I want them to.

I've already downloaded an autobahn PDF file and loaded it on the laptop we're taking, including speed limits ( or lack of limits  [evil] ). The hard part is going to be the 30 kph in towns and villages. 18 mph is mind numbing slow.
