*Incredibly* dense.  It did, however, inspire the obscure art joke of the day (with apologies to Rene Magritte):

"Is that a motorcycle?"

"Why, yes. Yes, it is."

"I thought you had a Vespa. Isn't that a Vespa?"

"No. This is a Ducati. It's a motorcycle. The Vespa is a scooter. It's at home right now."

"So, that's a motorcycle?"

In case anyone has any questions, the person asking me has a doctorate.

I love that. I'm also quite confident that if I were to show the original "Ceci n'est pas une pipe" picture to the same person it would be good for hours of semi-enjoyable argument.

driving across central new hampshire and southern maine the past few days.
passing through the remnants of Laconia bike week. these where the best questions asked (not necessarily in order)

1) did you know you're missing your clutch cover?
2) your bike sounds terrible. is it almost out of gas?
3) (after seeing my oregon license plate) DUDE! did you ride all the way here just for bike week?

I love pulling up to a stop light and have people on my right stare at the spinning clutch in amazement like it's going to explode. Got a black Speedymoto 5 spoke cover and red Kurki pres.plate and red button kit. Have had two people ask me "what the hell is that thing?" while leaning out the window. Haven't come up with a good smart ass answer yet, they always catch me off guard. Any good smart ass replies to clutch inquiries out there? I need to be ready and armed next time. waytogo

In the past, I've just said; "I don't know... Someone told me it's supposed to rotate, so I just ignore it"  Grin

If I had a dry clutch I would just say "don't worry, I just drained all the oil to make it lighter"

- Gateway to the Eigth Dimension?

-The Vortex? (don't get sucked in).

-Actually the clutch is stationary and the rest of the universe is spinning around it (Ducatista POV)

Guy at work:

"Is your clutch supposed to sound like that?"

"No. It's supposed to be louder."

Two of the best compliments I've had on mine was after installing the SM clutch cover and red plate - Buddy looks at it and says "Looks like a freakin' bloody stump spinning around in there!!"  I pulled into work one day, was backing into a spot, bike still running, parking shut it off, one of the maintenance guy spokes his head out of the door and says "Man, I thought someone started up a jackhammer out here."

I actually had someone ask me once, "So, when is it going to be finished?"  "What you do mean?"  "Well, when are you going to put it all back together?"  I just said 'soon, very soon.'

The best thing about a Ducati is that no one mistakes it for a Harley.  I was at a gas station filling my Goldwing, and some idiot comes out of the store and says "Nice Harley".  I gave him this  waytogo and smiled.
