I always liked this thread.

Yesterday I got the obligatory "did you ride here" walking with my helmet in hand and jacket on.

Day before, a I was talking to a guy who I park next to sometimes at work who rides a new Kawi Z1000 (msrp $8,899) and he said he wishes he could afford a Ducati (my msrp $7,995).  Granted, if you step up to the liter monster it's more, but still.

I like answers better:

Answer: "Yes. Yes its a make the beast with two backsing a Buell! Okay?! Are you happy now!?!?!"

Answer: "Yes, genius, Ducatis are made by Honda. Good eye there."

Answer: "Si senor. That IS the Mexican flag on my seat. Were you a geography major or something?"

I got some good ones when O bought my 907 back in '91. One guy had his eyes about a foot from the tank. The letters on the tank are pretty big.

"Wow, what kind of bike is that?"

Um, It's a Ducati.

"Who makes it?"

Ducati... it's a brand, not a model.

"Man, you must have had to go all the way to Japan to pick that thing up".

But on the other hand I was putting gas in it one day when a woman walked up and asked "Is that Italian?"  Why yes it is. "Yeah, it looks Italian."

I lost track of how many times I heard some guy say something along the lines of "I didn't know they still made those"...

My later bikes haven't gotten near the reaction my 907 did back then.

One of the guys at work saw me wearing my Ducati shirt on a casual Friday and game me the the raised eyebrow and shakes head look.

Meathead: "Do you know who makes those engines?"
Me: "Ducati does."
Meathead: "No, Harley does."
Me: "Trust me, Ducati does."
Meathead: "I don't think so."
Me: "Trust me, Ducati does."

Tool.

My neighbour bought a Ninja ZX-6R. 636cc I4 making something like 120HP. He's all afraid of my 620 Monster because he thinks "man, that thing's got to be a lot faster than mine"

To which I replied......."Yep"........ laughingdp

No Ducati would get the same reaction as a 907, with the possible exception of the Indiana.

While sitting at a light on my 695, guy in a distressed kidnapper van leans out, "IS THAT A 500?"

"695."

Sees the '695' on the plasticy bit.  "NICE BIKE."

"Nice van."

I was immediately happy I'd have something to post on this thread.

Best one I've gotten so far:

-Dumbass: Nice bike, what is it?
-Chipo: It's a monster
-D: Do you stunt it much?
-C: not really. Nothing more than maybe a wheelie...
-D: then how come you took off the fairings and put a cage on it (pointing at the trellis frame)
-C: Eeeerm that's the frame, its a naked bike (resisting the urge to laugh)
-D: What's that?
-C: (barely holding the laughter in) I've gotta go back to work...

Not really the dumbest questions but these are my faves I have had a few...the MILF telling me "nice bike" to which i responded would you like to go for a ride.  Of course she has 2 kids in the Tahoe.

Got my uncle good a few weeks back when I met a bunch of family in Pismo Beach.  The clutch is doing its best to piss off everyone in the hotel and Unk walks up as im shutting down the engine and gives Bridgette the once over (first time he had seen her).  He looks right at the clutch cover and says "damn that bike is noisy, how big is the engine? a liter"  and i said "yep and its a diesel."  He knew immeadiately i was f'n with him but it was the first time i got a shot to use that.

I also have a buddy at the office that asked me if I have ever taken her off any sweet jumps.
