Hi l thinking of buying dp gel seat for s4r. Is this seat a good one or better then a standared seat. Also I'm thinking of putting a steering damper on s4r will it help a lot. The steering damper im looking MATRIS 4D109R. Thanks.

You'll find a LOT of
for the DP gel... Have one on my S2R, and it really helps out on longer rides. The gel heats up pretty good in the sun, but if you stay on it, the sun can't get to it, right?
Others have also voiced approval of the Corbin and Seargent seats, but I liked the price of the DP. Happy with my decision.
No experience with dampers. You'll have to wait for others to chime on that.

Hi, can't speak to the Matris Damper , but my S4Rs has an Ohlins on it and it really tightens up the front end. I went airborne over a high spot in the road one day and got a violent head shake.
Had the Ohlins installed and dialed in ( 18 clicks ) and no more head shaking at higher speeds over bumpy surfaces . Still handles fine w, the Damper.
Not on a s4r (S4R) but I would think the idea is very similar. I'm glad I have it . Dolph

on the DP gel seat. Just remember that if you park it in the sun to cover the seat, or you'll roast yer man bits when you get back on it

DP gel seat is much nicer than stock and a Sargent seat I tried - put that on, sat on it, took it off and sold it...
Matris dampers are dogs danglies, very nice
I have both of the above on my 1000DS Monster

I have just been on that seat once. Although comfortable, it was all wrong for me. I didn't like that it was about 20mm lower than stock - I need all the height I can get (6' 4"). The worst for me was that it is kind of flat - my hip/illiac/pelvis was tilted backwards making my lower back flex (=pain).
It's very seldom to hear anyone complain, but maybe you should try it on your bike before you buy it?

I had a DP gel seat on my bike for a year. It is well made, very comfortable, nice looking, and a good price. It did not fit my bike very well, I had to modify the clamshell brackets to get that to fit, I had to modify the latch to get it to lock down and I had to put duct tape around my tank to keep the paint from getting worn too badly where the seat rubbed it. Then the heat soak from the sun makes it very hot so every time I parked it to eat, I either parked in the shade, covered it with my jacket or cooked my ass for 45 minutes. I ended up taking it off and learned to live with the stock seat.

-1 on the seat if you live anywhere near sun. I had it for a few months and was so sick of roasted nuts, I sold it and made a custom one.
The matris damper is great. I have one tapped into my cycle cat triple. love it.

-1 on the DP seat if you're tall. I'm 6'4", and I had one for a couple months. The DP seat is lower than the stock seat, and it 'folded' my legs up uncomfortably. The gel padding didn't help much for me either - I am much more comfortable on the stock seat for long (100+ mile) rides.
YMMV

You're seriously folded up with 3/4" difference?

DOH!!! I just ordered the lower DP seat hoping that it would give me a more aggressive position and not push me over the tank like the touring seat.... I'm 6'5".....
I hope I'll like it... if not... eBay I guess... but I really don't want the touring seat.
EDIT: Ah... different bikes... hopefully I'll be fine with the lower 696 seat.

Enough to notice. It was especially irritating on longer rides, which sorta defeated the purpose of the gel seat in the first place. Plus, I noted the 'hot seat' issue when parked in the sun, too.
After back-to-back comparisons, I preferred the stock seat. The stock seat also 'fit' better/easier into the locking latch mechanism.
As I said before, YMMV
