Was reading this month's issue of Maxim and came across a short article they had on the streetfighter.

Here's an excerpt from the beginning of the article:

"Most "naked" production motorcycles (stripped-down bikes without fairings) are built to go fast in a straight line and make you look good dragging on a cigarette in the parking lot. But  try dragging a knee on one and you'll see performance isn't their strong suit."

Um....what?

Likely that they never rode the damn things and just made a report.  Of course the YEARS of riding experience at Maxim could prove me wrong.  [roll]
Who insures the FDIC?

I stopped reading Maxim long ago.  Aside from a few hot chick pics and lists cool gadgets, the magazine is pretty useless and pointless.  Most of the articles are written by dueschs who think they know it all.

umm, I thought the hot chicks were the whole point.

Next thing you know, someone's gonna say "I read Playboy for the articles". [roll]

Make something go faster in a straight line by removing aerodynamic fairings... why didn't I think of that? [bow_down]

At least (I guess) it was implying that the Ducati could corner, unlike "those other" naked bikes?

Well hey, "performance" must not be the "strong suit" of a dragster, either.

Maxim is a style and fashion magazine. Caring about what they think about motorcycles is like getting diet advice from TV Guide.

Xiphias

Maxim is a douchy magazine. Written by subliterate buffoons. I had the misfortune of reading part of one on a long flight.
Hi-ho-hi-ho....its off to the track I go.................

I think the author was trying to sound gonzo, like he's got experience with "most 'naked' production motorcycles," which IS implied by a statement like that. Ipse dixit.

I really enjoy the magazine, but they do have the tendency to be douchy.  about 8 years ago they did about a 3 page spread on the zx-6. it was probably responsible for spawning a million squids

And that's why you should stop reading Maxim...

I do not READ maxim, I was looking at pictures and a pretty red motorcycle caught my eye, THEN I started reading lol.

I know better than to read bike articles in a mag like maxim, but it when I read it, I was compelled to spread my  [puke] of the article.
