I think I'm out for a ride, I've got a conference in Pasadena all w/e. I might sneak over to PI for a few minutes with mags at some point though for the 696 open house...

Well problem solved on my bike. The PCIII took a crap and wouldn't let the bike start. Once it was disconnected, the bike started up fine!!! Doh!
Since it is an old pre-USB version, I can't even download the map. I could replace the PCIII and get a new map, but I'm going to try the bike out running off the standard ECU and see how it runs before throwing another $600 at it.

support
there are directions for PC III and PC IIIr to download and upload maps using serial. Ignore the usb in the url, there are tabs for the older ones. If you don't have a serial port you can get a keyspan usb->serial adaptor for <50 bucks.
