I think I'm out for a ride, I've got a conference in Pasadena all w/e.  I might sneak over to PI for a few minutes with mags at some point though for the 696 open house...

Wow... not even a week after buttonwillow and I'm going through withdrawals. I put in a time off request for 6/20 today; hopefully production will be able to give me the day...

Well problem solved on my bike.  The PCIII took a crap and wouldn't let the bike start.  Once it was disconnected, the bike started up fine!!!  Doh!

Since it is an old pre-USB version, I can't even download the map.  I could replace the PCIII and get a new map, but I'm going to try the bike out running off the standard ECU and see how it runs before throwing another $600 at it.

I thought you could still download maps on pre USB pc3 via serial or something?

yeah, according to support there are directions for PC III and PC IIIr to download and upload maps using serial.  Ignore the usb in the url, there are tabs for the older ones.  If you don't have a serial port you can get a keyspan usb->serial adaptor for <50 bucks.
