Back Pack recommendations

I'm in the market for a good, quality back pack.
- it needs to fit well
- 15/20lt size is OK
- either hard shell or fabric
- prefer it to be motorbike specific (but not necessary)
- not focused on colour or bling.

I need to carry a large laptop, so I chose one specific for that (it is not motorbike specific), the Mobile Edge Premium Backpack.



I'm happy with the number of compartments and the padding in it, it is very comfortable. (Even though it is bigger than me!)  It has a wide strap that fastens around the waist and padded shoulder straps.

I use it just about every day and carry about 15-20 lbs worth of stuff in it.  I even use it on my bicycle too.

Interesting you mention bicycle, as I also cycle to work.... is the pack heavy on shoulder if your tucked on either bike?
I don't need to carry a lap-top, nor think I ever will. (wtf, computer ... people that struggle with reading have dyslexia, i have bytelexia...  )

It was like $137.00 USD when I got it a few years ago... I know it went up since then to $147.00. I see you are down under; check out the euro sites - much more popular over there... Probably get a better deal...

I have a Chrome messenger bag.  I freaking love it.  I think I have the smallest, it's awesome and it doesn't move around like a normal messenger bag would cause it's got a strap that holds it and it doesn't cut into my shoulders like backpacks usually do either.

I also have a regular walking backpack (Jansport), and this one is far more comfortable to carry on either bike with the same amount of weight.

Yes, it can fit a helmet, but if you are never going to carry a laptop, you might want to look at one of the other ones.  The layout for this one is really geared towards the laptop with extra padding around that compartment.

I've been to the Kriega site - and the interesting thing is that Kriega has an Australian distributor. I've checked some numbers - and I think it works out that the Aussie

$195 aus for the R25, whilst the $147 would come with some shipping - so I reckon it's close to even!

I have the Tumi/Ducati backpack.  It's designed to expand out to carry a helmet.  The shoulder straps are very well designed.  I have no problem getting my Vanson jackets thru them.  Con: too pricey

Just ordered the Ogio No Drag Backpack.  Reviews seem to be alright and it also has a helmet pouch.  Haven't gotten it yet, but I'll post a review when I do.  Prices I've found have been from $119 to $149, with Kneedragger's being the lowest at $99
