Ok so I had a short trip to Colorado to go snowmobiling in the mountains. I had to drive from the Denver airport to Grand Lake. Has anyone biked that section of US40 from I70 to Winter Park or Granby? It looks like it would be an fun ride if the road was clean, but with the sections marked with "watch for fallen rock" I would be a little nervous in the switch backs.

I drove from Denver to Aspen, then Crested Butte last summer, really beautiful scenic roads, but my skill level is just not up to riding any of those mountain passes yet........I'd love to ride Independence Pass someday

Bethoud Pass was just repaved a couple years ago.
(When riding it, just don't think about the rocks that have taken out tour busses.
)

Berthoud pass is an entirely different road in the summer. Yes, rocks, gravel and even dumptruck size boulders occasionally take out a buss or two but on a weekday in July that road can be pure heaven!
As Bick said it is a main artery and not a usual rout for Colo sport riders. There are far less traveled roads dominated by the canyon aficionados, dripping with adrenalin and calling for Ducatisti

I may be moving to Colorado Springs this spring. The hope was to move to Denver, but the wifes job is in Colorado Springs. Any idea how far this is from Denver? Is it a cool town? Any members from there?

All the riding in colorado is good. even the i-70 slab is entertaining west of denver.
As for Springs, check out the SoCo dogs in local club boards.

I've only visited CS a couple times but I thought it was a beautiful place close to great riding to the west.
