If I want quality, these days I drink Hoegaarden.

Unfortunately, at 39, my waist can't take that stuff day to day.  So I drink Mich Ultra.

I typically drink Guiness from day to day or just about any type of Sam Adams...

light beer, dark beer, low-cal beer, near beer, malt liquor... does it really matter? People like different things for different reasons. I like Icehouse. I like it when it's freakin hot out and it goes down like your sister.

They're called lawnmower beers. Whether it be light or "full flavored". They suit a purpose to the one drinking them.

Oddly enough, I remember looking at a chart and finding that a lot of "light" beers aren't as light as you might think.  Some are only a few calories & carbs behind the regular version.  It's worth doing the research on your light of choice compared to its full-flavored & caloried counterpart.  You might only be saving 10-15 calories a beer & 1 or 2 carbs.

Why Mich Ultra?  If memory serves me correctly, miller light has fewer or slightly more calories than mich ultra. I dont remember the calorie count of mich ultra but if memory serves me correctly (i had a couple beer as im writing this, and the beer is HITE, a Korean beer as im living here at the moment) a bottle of miller light is 95 calories.

I think mich ultra is the reason why the start of this thread, it is too light.  Not to knock you but i think if calories is the issue/reason you drink mich ultra, im saying that there are other beers with similar calorie count but with more beer taste.

Back in my more colorful days I would always bring cheap beer to a party. The reason being that if I brought good beer it would be gone in no time. I've always liked the more premium beers like a good hefewiesen or a dark bock. Then I started drinking Corona. Now that I'm over 30 I drink miller high life. If I had a choice between beer and liquor I would chose a glass of chilled fine tequila on the rocks.

When I was in college, there were 2 things that I absolutely refused to go cheap on. Toilet paper and beer.

But honestly, today, after refining my beer palate, I have to say that even Natty Light has it's place. A great beer for bowling and pizza...

I'm not loyal to a specific brand or type, but my buds like a decent quality beer.  [drink]

If I'm in the "great taste, less filling" mood, I'm not drinking beer anymore. That's whiskey/scotch time.

Guinness only "feels" heavy.  It does OK on a comparison to other beers, calorie-wise:

Guiness Draught:  126 cals/12 oz
Heineken: 150
Corona: 148
Budweiser: 145
MGD: 143

Being from the beer capitol of the states (no not St. Louis, Missouri) I can only order Lite, MGD, High Life, or if I feel like getting my chops busted MGD 64.  I've always been a fan of Miller Lite because you can down it if it's not frosty cold and it is a very drinkable beer (read watered down flavor).  If I'm drinking for deliciousness I'm grabbing a rocks glass and a bottle of Grand Marnier.  If I'm at the bar PBR me ASAP.

It really is just a matter of opinion, taste, and activity.  If I'm out mowing the lawn I'll grab a Lienenkugels Sunset Wheat, sushi dinner I'm having a Tsingtao, or if I'm out with the boys it's Lite or PBR.
May your head gasket develop premature failure, your carb get gummed up, and your side stand fall short.

Given my choice, I'd drink quality micro brews. Times are tougher, and I can either spend $12 on that 6 pack of Belles, or 14 on a 30pack of Busch Light. Or 12 on 1 bottle of 120 IPA  [drink]

Calories factor in as well. According to calculations, some of my own homebrews have clocked in at over 300 per pint  [beer] . Ya just can't drink 4 or 5 of those a night and make it through the door at the end of the month ;)

back in the day when I partied.. I always carried a bottle of albertsons brand vodka to what ever party I went to. no one ever drank it, but, bringing somehting to the party was a ticket for beer.. so other kids show with sammy smiths out meal stouts in a cooler, or other good beers I would drink those and leave the vodka out.

that container went to like 15 parties, and was never opened.  [laugh]

Sounds like Albertson's is similar to Aristocrat!

Call me white trash, but nuthin beats an ice cold PBR no matter the weather outside.  I could live on PBR, Guinness, and JD.  Yum.
