And this may be the job that gets me enough experience/contacts in this town so I can stop being a wage slave and start working for myself. I'm excited. I've talked to the guy before and got to show him some of my work. He loved it. And when we talked broadly about money to see if we were wasting eachother's time or not, he literally shrugged and went "pffft" when I threw a number at him. So this would not be a lateral move. The projects would be high end and I would be doing exactly what I want to do. My current gig is up soon and this would not only be a good opportunity but it would relieve a whole lot of stress. The guy called me 3 three times yesterday and finally tracked me down at home in the evening. So I'm feeling good.

Wish me luck. First round is on me if I get the gig.

I'd hold you to that if I thought you'd actually make it down the coast more than once a year :P

Good Luck!!! [thumbsup]

If I get this job I won't have to do as much side work. That equals more free time. That equals the greater likelyhood that BP will be able to badger me into going to IBN sometime this summer. That equals free beer for squeak. You've got a  lot riding on this. I hope your karma is good.  :D

And ducpainter, if you make it out to Cali you can pretty well rest assured that you will not have to buy a drink for yourself or your lady for the duration of your stay. Plenty of people will see to that.

The fourth of July. And you're all invited. You can see the fireworks from the front yard. There will be booze. And bobspapa will there as entertainment.

Interior Design and (more recently) Construction Administration. I specialize in furniture, millwork and casework design. I don't like doing the "oh isn't this fabric to die for!" bit, but designing a beautiful library or some nice stand alone furniture. In my side work I offer my services to other interior designers mostly since the majority of them have no make the beast with two backsing idae how to go about designing a complicated room full of casework without resorting to the trite. Plus I am actually AutoCAD proficient. It sstuns me that people who call themselves designers are not.

Bah! It got pushed back until tomorrow. I guess calling it a job interview is a bit formal. Those things don't really happen here. In this small town its all about who you know and who will vouch for you. Its really weird. No one looks on Monster or Craigslist (or the newspaper). You just have to know somebody. Or really impress somebody. And then there is this round about process at the end of which some one says, "So do you want to start on Monday." None of this Send a Resume, Interview #1, Interview #2 and done thing. But we are all locked in to meet tomorrow so . . . Yay.

A few folks asked what I do. I design cabinetry, furniture and millwork. Here's are some images of my designs come to life:

A ceiling in a Library:

A Family Room (the TV over the fire place makes me want to puke but the ceiling turned out sweet):

A detail shot of the cabinetry in that Family Room:
