I am thinking more like the Jap race bikes.  A piece of metal/plastic molded to go around the bottom/side of the engine cases to protect against damage from a fall on the track. Like this:

Metisse *used* to make them, but I have not seen any for sale in years.  You might find one floating around on ebay - but I'm not aware of anyone making new stock at the mo

woodcraft makes clutch covers like that for the dry clutch monsters. dunno about the other side though.

Hmm.. Price has gone up on the Commonwealth DP parts... I thought they used to be $140 each.
