I just got back from a 8-day adventure tour of the Southwest. About 2500 miles, 10% of the time (but not distance) on unpaved roads. On the S2R.

Got a lot more pictures at http://thesunhaswings.blogspot.com/2012/04/mirage.html

Leaving my campsite... scary crossing, with the slippery pebbles

Thanks to share Eric!!
You're blog is really interesting with a lot of beauty shot.
But the thing i really love about your adventure, it's done with an sr2. Few many people tried to discourage me; ...monster is not for long travel, blahblahblah.... I did exactly the opposite, find a way to strap my luggages with all my camp stuff and made a 9 days trip on east coast last summer, alone. For the first time of my life, i was feeling true freedom.. And i'll do it again.

I' m really happy to see other people get in to adventure with there monster, and learn from them. I will follow your path on your blog.

Totally agreed! The feeling of freedom, that everything you need (food, water, shelter) is right behind your back is like nothing else. And I think traveling alone amplifies that. The Monster is truly a versatile machine. In fact it's also a great conversation starter out there, where most of the bikes you see are touring Harleys, BMW's, etc. It's nice to know that you're not like everyone else. I wouldn't trade my 26k+ mile, beaten-up S2R for anything, knowing it's already taken me through so much.

Haha thanks a lot man. I wish I had your tank bag, is that the DP one? And what kind of exhaust is that? I can't quite tell from the picture but is there less of a gap between the midpipe and the engine compared to stock (i.e. added ground clearance)?

Yeah, DP tank bag. I thought I saw Bagster still making one?

The exhaust is the stubby Temi, I just took the carbon sleeve off because it looked like crap with the mid pipe. I've been toying with taking it to a muffler shop/welder and having them clean up welds a bit. And there is definitely more clearance, I'd say an inch or two. The mid pipe really hugs the bottom of the engine.

My friend and I ventured out in the light rain today. I was kicking myself the entire time for leaving out the rain liner, but it was a good time. The highlight of the ride was this railroad bridge built in 1902. Decent bends on the way to and fro the bridge - if I had more skill and the road had less potholes it would've been some damn good [moto].

Bike: My 2011 796 ABS

Random trash brought to you by the rednecks that go mudding down on the river bank I suspect. It's a shame they've trashed a pretty cool spot.
