So, I've been lurking around here for a while now. Mostly looking, readling, learning from all of you. Posting a little less...
Well, here's my Monster's story;
My brother-in-law purchased it a few years back. And, I've been wanting one ever since I first saw it. When he got it it already came with arrow high-mount exhaust, racing carbs, K&N pod filters, and a clean tail chop.
I hadn't ever riden a motorcycle yet. But knew I had to learn fast if I was going to get my own Monster. I imediately got my permit, took a riding classes, and got my liscense. Then I waited for a good, CHEAP, entry level monster to come available in my area. Many of you may remember getting annoying low-ball offers from me... sorry.
Well, about a year ago, my brother-in-law was in town visiting and he dropped the bike. It was actually the 2nd time he dropped it and both times just happened to be within blocks of my apartment, despite the fact that he lives 4 hours away!
This time the bike (and his knee) were in too bad shape to ride. Not wanting to repair, he decided to sell it and put the money towards a 748 (he had been wanting one anyway).
I gave him a very modest amount of money for it and quickly replaced the right rearset, pedals, controls, mirror, blinker handlebars, etc. with help from, well you guys (many thanks to Gil, aka m9hundo, for the parts!). I now also have a new tank that I am waiting to put on. I'm afraid I may drop it myself so am leaving the dented tank on it for now.
After replacing the handlebars I'm now considering clip-ons, but we'll see...
Well, here it is, my 2000 Ducati Monster M750;
