I modded the rear hugger because I didn't want to remove it. We had a chain break on our other Monster and it ripped into the crank case - the thought of what that could have done to a leg is horrific. So removing the chain guard which is part of the rear guard is not something that I am willing to do.

Is the plastic chain guard really going to stop that chain if it snaps though?

All the plastic chain guard is good for is keeping chain goo from flinging everywhere. If you want to protect your leg, wear leather and keep you chain maintained.

At the rate that the chain is spinning the chain guard would most likely serve as a deflection tool in the event to a snap. You really come off sounding arrogant by suggesting that I wear leather and maintain my chain - don't you think that I know and do that already??
