i posted it in Ducs in the Wild also, but I thought its a great shot of my almost stock bike. The mountains make up for the redundancy.

Garden of the Gods!  Beautiful place, I'm very jealous that you get to ride your bike there.

Great pic too!

I figure I should finally contribute a not-quite-finished (are they ever?) pic of my bike to this thread.  Most of the aftermarket or customized parts came from the DMF classifieds and its users, after all.

gOoIe B,

How did you do those camshaft covers?  I've been thinking of pulling mine off and polishing them to match my belt covers.  Is it fairly easy to remove and replace those?

Thanks in advance.

each cover is held on with 4 cap head hex bolts, remove them and wiggle and twist the covers out of the head by hand.  If you're just gonna do a polish job on them, tape shut the opening on the inside where the cam bearing is to keep crud out.  I did powdercoating on all my parts, which required removal of the bearings.  Let me tell you, they're in there tight.  To remove the bearings from the cam covers (just in case you ever need to), heat the cover with a propane torch (not too close, don't burn it!), put on an oven mitt, pick up the cover and slap it down onto a hard flat surface, then the bearing pops right out.

Cam cover removal is easy, just make sure you re-torque your fasteners to spec on reassembly.
