After staring at this latest post of mine:(spoiler warning) http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=20256.msg366391#msg366391 for far too long I have come to the conclusion to leave the forum and close my account.

I came here (actually TOB) many years ago to join the free flowing exchange of useful info (mostly technical). A great deal can be learned from other's experiences. I know that I have gained quite a bit over the years.

In the last year I have seen hints from my family that I spend too much time on the 'puter (really not all that much if you go by posts per day). I have also found myself mid-post thinking 'what the hell am I doing this for?' and stopped typing. This mostly stems from either a snarky post of my own (not constructive) or replying to a snarky post attempting to refute something I added from first hand knowledge. The post above to a degree represents both and I nearly did not add it. Now I get the feeling that I should not have bothered.

Certainly I will miss the useful technical threads and the interesting stories but this will free up more time for the bikes, family, and a nice [drink] or three. Everyone be safe and enjoy the rides!

There is nothing wrong with realizing you need a break. Take your break, but you will calm down and eventually come back. No reason to close the account. Think the the time of year. Here in the NorthEast, people haven't been riding for several months. Frustrations build up and people become assholes. It's normal, don't take it personally...

This would be unfortunate.

I would say that it is not personal but how can it not be really? This "decision" was a long time coming. The decision to leave crapzilla a few years back was easy - a screaming and shouting and NO useful info at all. Don't miss that at all.

It is but only partly. Bigger picture is now in my sights.

I will heed the suggestion of not closing the account for now. No more posts for some amount of time though. My email will still work if there was anything of importance. Cheers guys.

I do the same thing. The Internet makes juveniles and experts even in the shouting matches, so more often than not I self edit and just don't get involved.

Take a break. Go out and ride and then come back and read/post in the good threads.

Gaspar, Melchior and Balthasar kicked me out of the band..... they said I didnt fit the image they were trying to project.

Yeah, I have done this before due to head banging within the DFWM group. Ultimately it was no biggie. Just needed some down time and space to get the right mindset. I was kind of a turd... even though I don't like to think of myself as one on a person to person basis. I think internet message boards suck in that respect. So much can be misconstrued and taken the wrong way when maybe it was meant as a joke, etc. Board personas and the real life person can be so different. And on a national board level you really don't know that person in Pittsburgh like you should when you live in LA. It's not like a local board where you know the folks, ride with them, have lunch/dinner and such.

Taking a break and deleting my account have done wonders. I could care less about my lost post count. Who in their right mind cares how many posts they have or how long they have been logged on. There are actually people in the DFWM camp that keep up with that shit! Get a life. [bang] Take your break, it always helps. The good spring riding season is around the corner. That will surely help. No offence - but it's an internet forum. Just use it how you want to use it. No need to be so dramatic.
This place feels nice. Black S4RS, CRG Barend mirrors, vented clutch cover, gold clutch plate, gold pazzo racing levers, full 50m termi system, little carbon extras....oh yeah ...almost forgot....ban corporate coffee!

I've typed so many responses & not posted them and my post count is way down on what it once was. If you give yourself some space it will make the little barbs that people throw around a lot less noticeable.

Hope to see you back soon, very impressive CV by the way [thumbsup]
